Greetings once again, fellow game players. We shall be gathering for board games Sunday 12th May at The Blacksmith and The Toffeemaker pub near Angel. We shall bring some games from our collections, but if you have some you would like to play, please bring them along too, along with any friends or acquaintances you think could do with a good dose of games. We will be setting up around 2pm, but there’s no fixed schedule, so feel free to come earlier or later than that, and join the next game to start. We will be finishing up around 6pm, to give the room back by 7pm.

We may have a couple of tabletop games of our own devising to playtest too, for those who are interested…

Hope to see you there,

Toodle pip,

The Haberdashery Collective

Come and join us for some games on 14th April, from 3-6pm, in what may actually be springtime. Of course, we’ll be playing safely indoors anyway, in The Blacksmith and The Toffeemaker pub near Angel. We’ll have a few new games to try out, and a couple of old favourites to let everyone relax. We’ve got Mask-A-Pony, a nearly topical game about the perils of a long supply chain where meat products are involved. We’ve got A Herald Approaches, where you play a noble lineage and develop your own coats of arms, all in the name of claiming to be the most closely related to old people with lots of land to inherit. And we’ve got Stratego-go-go, the game that balances tactics, strategy, and trying not to shout your secret plans to the rest of your team…

And of course, we’ll also have a panoply of smaller games, such as Ninja, Standoff, Danish Clapping and more.

The larger games will start at 3pm, but we will be at the venue from 2pm, so feel free to come down and either play some small games, grab some lunch (the food is rather good), or just hang out.

Please pick up a free ticket here, and you can find the Facebook event here.

Hope to see you there,

Toodle pip,

The Haberdashery Collective

P.S. If anyone has favourite games they’d like to request we run, do let us know, we’re happy to oblige.

Good day to you all.

In attempt to control the future, we thought we’d announce the dates of our next few events well in advance, rather than shortly before the day. The general principle will be that we shall have an event on the second Sunday of every month, alternating between board games one month and live games the following month. Now, there will be exceptions, such as this month, where we will be playing board games on Saturday 30th March instead, for reasons that we’ll talk about soon, but the confirmed dates for your diaries are:

  • Saturday 30th March – board games
  • Sunday 14th April – live games
  • Sunday 12th May – board games
  • Sunday 9th June – live games
  • Sunday 14th July – board games

We’ve also hopefully settled on a regular venue, so we will be at The Blacksmith & The Toffeemaker near Angel tube for all those dates.

We will of course announce the individual events as usual as we get closer to them, this is just for those of you who like to plan ahead.

Hope to see you there,

Toodle Pip,

The Haberdashery Collective

Our new year’s resolution was to organise our games days a little more in advance. Have you broken yours too? You probably have. So you should just give up your plan to spend Sunday in the gym, detoxing or organising all your paper clips. Admit it! You’d rather come and play games in the pub with us. You’ll have plenty of time to get fitter, healthier and more organised next year. Until then come and have fun with us.
(Anyway, Danish Clapping is probably an excellent upper body workout)

2pm Sunday 17th February
The Blacksmith and The Toffeemaker
Islington
EC1V 4PA

Featuring:
BRAND NEW SUPER SECRET MYSTERY GAME
It is definitely at least half designed already. It will almost certainly be ready on time. It will definitely be new! And exciting! And a game! Just trust us. We know what we’re doing. We’re sure we do.

VIKING MONOPOLY
Should you build or hoard? Defend or attack? Pillage or negotiate? Try to be the very best viking you can in our fast-paced game of pillaging and destruction. Horned helmets not provided. Please bring your own if you require one.

Plus a selection of old favorites including some, all or none of the following:
Fairness Inc., Ninja, Gargoyles, Lemon Jousting, Blind Duelling, Blink and You’re It, Danish Clapping, Adventure Capital, Sangre Y Patatas

We’ll be at the pub from 2pm and games will start at 3pm.
We are experimenting with not using an advance ticketing system for this event. This makes it even more important that you arrive on time since we’ll need to adapt the games for the number we have. If you need a reminder email make sure that you are signed up to our mailing list (there’s a sign up box on the right)

While we will accept latecomers we can’t guarantee that you’ll get to play the best games. Also you’ll give us kittens thinking that noone is coming (you killed us last time guys, really). There is food and coffee at the pub and we promise not to judge you if you arrive with a hangover.

Join us for an afternoon of games on Sunday 2nd December at The Islington pub, from 3-6pm. We’ll have Viking Monopoly as the headline event, where you get to choose between a life of pillaging or one of building, with supporting games such as Adventure Capital, and almost certainly some Ninja, Gargoyles and Blind Duelling to top up the fun. For those who want to be early, we’ll be at the pub from 2pm, so we can play some small drop-in games before the main event. The pub also does nice food (pizzas and sharing plates), so you can fuel up beforehand for an afternoon of games, and there will be a some acoustic music in the evening for those who’d like to hang around. We will of course be around for a while after 6pm to talk about games and listen to feedback.

The event is free, but we ask that you pick up a ticket from here so we know how many people are coming.

Toodle pip,

The Haberdashery Collective

P.S. If anyone has favourite games they’d like to request we run, do let us know, we’re happy to oblige.

You can find the Facebook event here.

Join us for an afternoon of games on 14th October at The Wilmington Arms from 1pm. We’ll play a little Ninja and Gargoyles to warm up, then get everyone’s blood moving with Angrygrams, before getting stuck in to the warring factions in Local Politics. With a few other games to fill the moments between the main games, we hope you’ll enjoy our entertainments.

This is a free but ticketed event, please acquire your ticket here. There will be an entirely voluntary donations jar on the day to help with the venue hire cost.

Also, we’ll be posting profiles of some of our games, including these ones, so stay tuned if you want some insight.

Follow us on Facebook as The Haberdashery Collective, and join the event here.

Hope to see you there.

One of our crew is running a fabulous event next week and has invited us along to play some games.

We’ll be reprising the ever popular Fairness Inc, where you get to play robbers trying to divide the spoils at the point of a gun, and debuting a modified version of the wheeling dealing stockmarket game Adventure Capital

For more details see the event page or facebook event

There will be plenty more besides the Haberdashery and we’ve also been given a sneaky discount to offer any Habserdashers who want to come and play. Just visit the secret ticket shop and enter the code SNEAKY20 for a 20% discount.

Greetings once again,

We’re back with another chance for us to entertain you with our diversions. Join us on 8th July from 1pm in Willesden Green for Garden Games, which will indeed be in a garden if the weather is good to us, or inside if not. We shall be playing small games such as Fairness Inc., with its feigned innocence and backstabbing, and Adventure Capital, with its startup speculation and press manipulation, to start the afternoon. Once sated on those, we shall move on to something a bit more hearty, such as East India Company, where you can hone your skills at trading and smuggling, or maybe Stratego-go-go with its bluff and tactics. We’ve also got a couple of in development games that may see an outing, but we’ll see what the day brings.

If you’d care to join us, please grab a ticket here so we know you’re coming, and perhaps join the Facebook event here.

Toodle pip,

The Haberdashery Collective

P.S. There’s another of Hide&Seek‘s Sandpit events tomorrow at the Southbank Centre, and while we’re not running anything, there will be Haberdashers there to enjoy it
