Lovely Haberdashers. The rumours are true.

This month we have a new venue and, hopefully, a permanent new home for our live games events. While we love The Blacksmith and The Toffeemaker, and we’ll be staying there for board games next month, our new venue offers twice the space which means we can run bigger and better games!

So please come and join us at our new venue The Book Club, just a short walk from Old Street and Shoreditch High Street stations, on Sunday 6th April at 2pm.

Since this month’s games happen to fall the day after International Tabletop Games Day we’ll be playing some games inspired by board games:
Viking Monopoly – Invade or settle? Loot or pillage? Rampage as a mob or attack as individuals? Difficult decisions to be made in this game of strategic violence.
Stratego-a-go-go – A live action version of the classic boardgame stratego you’ll be sneaking around the board room trying to catch the opposition’s flag using wit, cunning and secret identities.

We’ll be running all our favourite smaller games like lemon jousting, ninja, danish clapping and blind duelling as well and if that’s still not enough to get you excited we’ll also be playtesting something brand new. A game of negotiation, cunning, cooperation and… umm… cubes. Lots of cubes.

So come on down and play with us! We’ll be playing downstairs from 2pm. Do try to arrive for the start if you can, we want to impress our new venue so that we’ll get invited back. They also do fantastic food, so why not come early for lunch before we start?

Ruth with many games

Come on down to The Blacksmith and The Toffeemaker for our regular relaxing Sunday of board games. Don’t worry if you can’t bring one, we’ll be bringing a plenty to get us started and we’ll be ready to explain how to play. Do bring your favourites to share if you can, or even that game you made yourself and need volunteers to playtest!

The team will be arriving early for lunch, so do feel free to join us at 1pm for some tasty pub food or drop in later and eat as you play (just promise not to get ketchup on the cards).

Hello lovely players,April games - Engineering Corps 2

Come and join us once again (or even for the first time) for our regular mix of playground-style running around and human-size board games. As ever our relaxed afternoon event is suitable for even the most hungover of players with offerings of food and drink available throughout.

On Febuary 9th we will have two new games for you to try:

  • Weeping Angels in the Mist – Freeze opponents within your line of sight while avoiding being frozen by them. Plays like a cross between Ninja and Blind Duelling.
  • Room of death – navigate through a maze that changes after every turn. Try to trap other players while avoiding becoming trapped.

In addition we will be playing a selection of our old favourites.

We will be playing in The Blacksmith and The Toffeemaker pub near Angel, from 3-6pm (or from 2pm for Lunch).

To see who else is attending check out the facebook event.

Hope to see you there,

Toodle pip,

The Haberdashery Collective

Engineering Corps at Nine WorldsHello, players of enticing and amusing games!

We’re back with a pack of new delights and old favourites, as we run our last “more exuberant” games session of this year! Mark Sunday 10th November in your calendars, for we will be at our usual home at The Blacksmith and The Toffeemaker pub near Angel. Our new features include spooky goings on with Ghosts of the Old West, and some belligerent beverages in Choose your Poison. We’ll also be giving some old favourites an outing, including Blind Duelling, Angrygrams and Engineering Corps!

As usual, our larger games will start at around 3pm, but we will be at the venue from 2pm (or maybe even slightly earlier), so feel free to come down and either play some small games, enjoy the pub’s rather good food, or just come and say hello before we start playing!

You can find the Facebook event here.

Garden Games - Adventure Capital table

Salutations lovely game players!

As usual, to give us a break from serious organisation, we’ll be hosting a bring and play session of board games this month. We will gather on Sunday 13th October at The Blacksmith and The Toffeemaker pub near Angel. Don’t worry about coming empty handed, we usually bring plenty between us, but we do strongly encourage bringing your favourites if you have them to hand. Bring your favourite people too.

We’ll be setting up officially at 2pm, although a few daring folks are often there as early as 1pm, and running through to 6pm when we have to give the room back. The pub serves tasty food and will carefully nurse your hangovers. We promise no sudden loud noises.

You can find the Facebook event here.

Hope to see you there,

June games - Danish Clapping

Hello once more lovely players,

We are back again with a mixture of delights both old and new for you to enjoy. Come and partake on Sunday 8th September at our traditional haunt of The Blacksmith and The Toffeemaker pub near Angel. For the new, we shall be trying out How About That Local Sports Team?, allowing some form of sport to be played indoors, in a pub, which is clearly superior to the alternatives. For the old we will have favourites like Blind Duelling, Ninja, Standoff, and Lemon Jousting. If that fails to satisfy, well the Habernomicon will provide plentiful further distractions.

The larger games will start at 3pm, but we will be at the venue from 2pm, so feel free to come down and either play some small games, grab some lunch (the food is rather good), or just hang out.

There’s a Facebook event for this shindig too.

Toodle pip,

The Haberdashery Collective

Well, we had a great time at Nine Worlds this weekend, and hope those of you who joined us for games did too. We saw a few familiar faces and plenty of new ones. We’ll be back in our regular venue at The Blacksmith and The Toffeemaker next month, on Sunday 8th September (see our event calendar). We’ll be doing our own games rather than board games, so those of you who weren’t at Nine Worlds don’t have to wait another month to play.

We’ll announce more details of what we’ll run soon, but in the meantime, here are some pictures from this weekend.

Tabletop Games DayFor those of you with a more sedentary temperament, Sunday 14th July will see us back the The Blacksmith and The Toffeemaker for more tabletop games from 2pm until 6pm. Be it card games, board games, or others that require a gathering of players round a table, bring it along, add it to the stash, and we’ll see what people want to play. We will of course be bringing some games from the Haberdashery cupboards, so even if you don’t have a game to bring, do come along.

As ever, the food at the pub is rather good, so if you fancy lunch come along early, I dare say there might be a few people there from 1pm, but no promises. Also, games will be starting throughout the afternoon, so late-comers, fear not, you can join the next one to start.

You can find the Facebook event here.
